Well Person Clinic

Mater Misericordiae Hospital offers a unique opportunity for people to take stock of their health through the well person clinics. “Prevention and early detection of disease'' is the main aim of the clinics. The sense of wellness is very subjective. We are aware that diet, lifestyle, heredity and age affect our health and well being in a significant way. As we advance in age the inevitable wear and tear sets in. Our modern living exposes us to various toxins, carcinogens and radiations in the environment which, with prolonged exposure, can be assimilated into our tissues to an extent of causing undesirable and even sinister changes. We are products of our heredity and as medicine advances, we are becoming increasingly aware that certain genes predispose to the likelihood of developing some medical conditions.

A medical check up is an opportunity to take stock, become aware of unhealthy lifestyles or tendencies to conditions such as overweight, hypertension, gout, diabetes, early detection of cancer and heart disease. For ladies, early detection of breast pathology is paramount

Cancer stands as a prominent global cause of death, encompassing a diverse group of diseases that can originate in virtually any organ of the body, where abnormal cells proliferate uncontrollably and surpass their usual boundaries, infiltrating other parts of the body

The burden of cancer imposes substantial physical, emotional, and financial challenges on individuals, families, and healthcare systems. Among men, the most prevalent cancers include lung, prostate, and colorectal, while breast and cervical cancer top the list for females

Prevention emerges as the most cost-effective strategy for managing cancer. Modifying key risk factors and implementing early detection and disease management measures can prevent 30-50% of cancer-related deaths. Lifestyle modifications, such as maintaining a healthy weight through a nutritious diet and increased physical activity, abstaining from tobacco use, limiting alcohol consumption, practicing safe sex, and receiving vaccinations against hepatitis B and human papillomavirus (HPV), are essential components of this preventive approach

Screening for cancer plays a pivotal role in early detection and management. At MMH Wellness Clinic, our objective is to identify individuals at risk, including those without symptoms, by conducting screening for various cancers, such as breast, cervix, ovary, prostate, and the gastrointestinal system. We promptly refer individuals for diagnosis and treatment. Additionally, we conduct tests for tumor markers as part of our comprehensive cancer detection and management approach
