Lamaze Classes Print

This is a practice that aims at helping pregnant women give birth normally as nature intended it. It affirms the normalcy of birth and acknowledges women’s inherent ability to give birth naturally and explores all ways that will give women comfort and strength during labour and birth.

Lamaze classes’ help you understand how to cope with pain in ways that both facilitate labor and promote comfort including focused breathing, movement and massage.

Whether you are expecting your first, second or fourth child, child birth classes can help you meet the challenges of labor and birth.

CONSIDER THE OPPORTUNITIES

  • Learn things you never knew about labor, birth and post birth care.
  • Address your fears – share with other expectant parents who may be having similar concerns.
  • Differentiate between myths and facts in matters concerning labor and birth.
  • Discuss options for handling pain- practice various methods for coping with contraction.
  • Get the basics on medical interventions and possible complications- understand how routine interventions can influence labor.
  • Brush up on newborn care breastfeeding bathing, diapering and immunizations.
  • Create a social network- meet other pregnant women, listen to their experiences and make new friends.

Who is a Doula?

  • Doula is a Greek word meaning “a woman who serves “. In labor support terminology, birth doula refers to a specially trained professional birth companion who provides continuous labor support. She performs no clinical tasks. Birth doulas are trained and experienced in child birth.
