Healthy kidneys filter excess water and body waste from the blood steam. In Kidney failure, this filtering mechanism become seriously inefficient. High blood pressure and diabetes are major causes but there are many other causes. At the Mater Hospital, severe kidney failure is treated by Haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and kidney transplant. We regularly carry out peritoneal dialysis and haemodialysis. Patients needing haemodialysis are screened for hepatitis B, C, and HIV to ensure their safety for dialysis. The hospital Renal Unit is a spacious area strategically located for both outpatients and inpatients. There are six ultramodern dialysis machines, one of which is located at the Intensive Care Unit. The bed seats in the Renal Unit are client controlled for client’s comfort. The hospital has adequate doctor coverage and other staff with Renal Management skills. Patients are given an appointment card on their first visit to be used for follow-up visits. Hours of operation 7:00am to 5:00 pm Monday to Saturday. For more information please call 0206903039 |
