CEO's Message PDF Print E-mail

During the first half of 2010 we witnessed many blessings at the Mater Hospital.

The Mater Heart Run raised over Kshs. 24 Million for children’s heart surgeries.  A team of cardiac surgeons led by Dr Ramesh Patel were in the hospital for a week in July and successfully performed 21 surgeries. This year, 70 children have had their heart defects repaired at the hospital.

A fully equipped Hospital Cardiac Clinic for both children and adults was opened in June and the new private offices for consulting doctors have been fully subscribed.

The Mater Comprehensive Care Clinic, a VCT/HIV which serves many people from Mukuru slums has reached out to the staff and inmates at Langata Prison. We recently opened a clinic to which offers free VCT, ARVs, Laboratory and Counseling services.

In order to better serve the ever increasing number of patients who seek our services we will continue to make further investments in our staff and facilities.

The rebuilding of two of our four theatres is our next major project.

Additionally we have completed a review of our service gaps and have set specific improvement bench marks with respect to timeliness and quality in service delivery in order to ensure that our clients keep us accountable to our promise that “We care more”

May God bless you all.

On Saturday the 15th of May, thousands of Kenyans gathered at the Nyayo National Stadium to participate in this year’s Mater Heart Run. A record 25,000 people purchased t-shirts in support of this noble cause.

By 7.00am, many people had arrived and our MC, Churchill Ndambuki got busy working the crowd and generating an atmosphere charged with energy and excitement.

After a word of prayer, the executives from main sponsors, Capital FM, Safaricom, Citizen TV and Mater Hospital made brief remarks and flagged off the run.

After the run, participants were entertained by various artists, including Daddy Owen, Nameless, Roughtone, Sarakasi Dancers, among others.

This year, more than 100 companies and 180 schools came forward to support the run by donating cash and raising teams to represent them.
